FILMS & VIDEO / DOUBLE EXPOSURE / AL-AMAN ASSOCIATION

I Love Life.

An entire life, revealed within a single image.

A visual music video about a blind girl’s right to live with dignity, play, learn and dream. I placed scenes from a blind girl’s life inside the on-camera performer’s silhouette, while Arabic and English typography moves around the image.

01 / THE CREATIVE IDEA

One voice. Many lived moments.

I chose to film a sighted young singer wearing a black cloth over her eyes, while moving scenes from a blind girl’s life appear inside her face and body. Her presence on camera becomes a visual space for play, learning, ambition and participation.

The blindfold is an artistic symbol, not a simulation of lived blindness or a suggestion that the performer herself is blind. It connects the musical performance with the everyday experiences and opportunities the song advocates for.

I wanted the life behind the words to be seen, not only sung about.

02 / VISUAL DECISIONS

Why does it look this way?

The goal was not an attention-grabbing effect for its own sake. I looked for a visual approach in which the singer and the blind girl’s lived experiences could remain connected rather than compete for attention.

01

The black blindfold

A symbolic visual sign connected to the subject of the song, without presenting the performer as blind.

02

Deliberate white space

A white filming background clears visual noise and gives the performer, inner footage and lyrics room to breathe.

03

A life inside the silhouette

Instead of cutting constantly to separate scenes, I placed experiences within the singer’s image to hold two registers in one composition.

04

Typography in support

Moving Arabic and English words sit beside the performer and adapt to negative space, adding readability without obscuring the human story.

03 / THE VISUAL TECHNIQUE

Double exposure, in motion.

Video Double Exposure is more than two images superimposed: it is a relationship between moving shots inside one frame. I shot the performer against white, then composited footage of a blind girl’s life into selected regions of her image in After Effects, refining the brightness, transparency and timing of the moving layers.

01Performance

02Lived experience

Scenes of a blind girl participating in everyday life.

03Typography

Bilingual text shaping the visual rhythm.

01

Film the performer

A clear, white-background image creates space for the singer and the visual treatment.

02

Define the composite area

Use the on-camera performer’s visible shape as the space for layering the second moving image.

03

Introduce real-life footage

Blend sequences of play, education, ambition and support into the portrait.

04

Refine the timing

Balance transparency, contrast, rhythm, edits and moving bilingual typography.

This is an explanatory illustration of the compositing workflow using final-film frames, not a display of original camera rushes or an After Effects project file.

04 / ART DIRECTION

When type becomes part of the frame.

I positioned Arabic and English kinetic typography in the open white space surrounding the singer. At times the words hold still so the image can lead; at others they shift with the next scene. This balance lets the audience follow the message while noticing the experiences inside the moving portrait.

07 / MY CONTRIBUTION

I developed the visual idea. And directed its image.

I created the visual concept and directed its filming: the double-exposure approach, the white-background set, the shots and performance, After Effects compositing, Arabic and English animated typography, editing and final direction. My contribution is to the video interpretation of the song—not writing or composing the song.

WHY IT MATTERS / THE MESSAGE

The message is larger than the image.

I Love Life is not an invitation to pity. It is an affirmation of a blind girl’s right to play, learn, pursue her ambitions and live with dignity. It closes by thanking the people whose support helps turn those rights into opportunity. The imagery does not replace her voice; it makes her life and potential visible at the centre of the film.

I develop a visual approach and carry it into filming, compositing, editing and direction—with the idea, not the effect, at the centre.
